Jesus, Ground of Our Faith
At Hope Church we believe, teach, and confess the Bible to be God’s own word, from which we learn all that is needful for faithful life and salvation through Jesus Christ.
As Lutherans our confession is contained briefly in Luther’s Small Catechism (found here). The chief parts of this catechism are:
The Ten Commandments
The Apostles’ Creed
The Lord’s Prayer
The Sacrament of Holy Baptism
The Rite of Confession and Absolution
The Sacrament of the Altar (or The Lord’s Supper)
These holy things offer to all people the forgiveness, life, and salvation which are the gifts of God through Jesus.
The first confession of Lutheran Christians is the Augsburg Confession—showing what we believe about Christ, his holy Church, and especially his salvation. It can be found here, along with the rest of the Book of Concord (a larger and more detailed work).
